Beginning April 1, 2009, The Southern California Pipe Trades Health & Welfare Fund teamed up with Blue Shield of California to reduce plan costs while expanding the network of providers available to Plan Participants.

Blue Shield offers one of the largest provider networks in California and has been able to negotiate substantially lower rates for our members. Blue Shield is a San Francisco-based, not-for-profit health plan with nearly 65 years of experience. As a not-for-profit entity, Blue Shield is guided by their mission – to ensure all Californians have access to quality health care at a reasonable price.
